Qualifier Changes, No Late Entries & Other Changes Affecting International Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon Entrants
Entries for the 2018 Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon (OMTOM), taking place in Cape Town on 30 and 31 March 2018, will open on Wednesday, 1 November 2017.
International runners wanting to participate in the world’s most beautiful marathon in 2018 should take note of a number of important changes that have been made in the interest of logistics and safety.
Ultra Marathon Qualifier Requirement
OMTOM Ultra entrants will be required to submit a qualifying marathon (or longer distance) result obtained between 1 July 2017 and 28 February 2018. All standard marathons and races longer than 42.2km count as qualifying races, provided that they are held under the auspices of the IAAF.
Qualifier results must be submitted by 5pm (GMT +2, SA time) on 28 February 2018. Entrants who miss this deadline will forfeit their entry.
In order to qualify for the OMTOM Ultra Marathon, runners’ qualifier results must meet the following criteria:
- 42.2km / 26.2 miles – sub 5:00
- 50km / 31 miles – sub 6:30
- 56km / 34.7 miles – sub 7:00
- 90km / 55.9 miles – sub 12:00
- 100km / 62.1 miles – sub 13:30
New Payment Platform
The Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon, has now also officially partnered with local ticketing platform, Webtickets, to facilitate entry payments for all entries.
All entrants will be required to register a Webtickets profile to enable to them to pay for their entry.
No Late Entries
For safety reasons, international athletes will no longer be able to submit a late entry. All entries must reach the organisers by 5pm (GMT +2, SA time) on 28 February 2018.
PLUS: Join The FREE International Friendship Run
All international entrants qualify to participate in the 5.6km (3.4 mile) International Friendship Run (IFR) on Friday, 30 March 2018. This spectacularly scenic short run starts and finishes in the V&A Waterfront, and takes runners along the picturesque Promenade and through the iconic Green Point Urban Park.
While entry is free, an entry submission is required. Runners can simply submit their IFR entry while completing their OMTOM Ultra or Half Marathon online entry. Runners can also register up to three additional guests to join them in the IFR at a nominal fee.
The IFR serves as runners’ official welcome to Cape Town and the Western Cape, and truly embodies the OMTOM #RunAsOne spirit in a display of international friendship and unity through running.
The Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon events take place on Friday, 30 March and Saturday, 31 March 2018.
